Permaculture Manchester . . . lets put some green on the urban scene

Manchester Permaculture Network's April event is to take place at Birchfields Park Forest Garden.

Last year an experimental planting was undertaken in the south west corener of the forest garden, using mypex, to test its effectiveness at weed control, in the establishment of the forest garden's gound cover layers. On the evening of Weds 28th, we will be returning to the forest garden, to see how things have progressed.

Screening Rob Hopkins new film 'In Transition' and Farm For A Future.

This is the first screening in Manchester of the new 'In transition' DVD, which explains what the transition movement is all about, and what we can do for our future - bringing together peak oil, climate change, and permaculture in one evening. 

A workshop all about Aquaponics - the art of growing fish and vegetables together in perfect synergy.

What to expect:

We'll start with an intro to Aquaponics, why you use it, some of the advantages and disadvantages and the different types and sizes of systems you can build.

The next Manchester Permaculture event will next Monday (26th Oct), 6:30pm - 9:30pm, and it will be a cider making workshop! We've got a home brewer coming from near Manchester to talk a bit about cider brewing, and we are also going to juice some apples using a crusher and apple press.
