"If only carrots grew on trees" - growing food isn't all hard labour: digging, weeding, hoeing, feeding. Growing perennial plants gives you food for next-to-no effort. Add in choice of plants for their architectural form, leaf textures, and flower & fruit, and edible landscaping gives you far more rewards than traditional veg growing.
